Purpose
The Weed and Pest Board works to suppress, control, and eradicate noxious weeds and declared pests infestations through chemical, biological, and/or cultural control methods. In 2022, approximately 575 miles of county roads were sprayed at a cost of $92,863.50.

The Weed and Pest board meets at least once annually, usually in the spring. It may also meet other times throughout the year, as needed.

NOTICE: Effective Friday, March 10, the Highway Department will be closing 229th Street between 444th Avenue and 446th Avenue due to current road conditions.

Seasonal road restrictions will become effective at 8:00 a.m. on Monday, March 6, 2022, due to the seasonal warm weather conditions. Click here to view the list of restrictions. Seasonal road restrictions will remain in effect until lifted by the Lake County Highway Superintendent.

Tax Assessment Freeze Program Deadline

Elderly and disabled South Dakotans have until April 1, 2023 to apply for property tax relief under South Dakota's Assessment Freeze for the Elderly and Disabled Program. Applications are available at the local treasurer offices and on the Department of Revenue's website here.
