GENERAL PUBLIC NOTICES

NOTICE OF PRE-DISASTER MITIGATION PLAN MEETING - 12/28/22 AT 10:30 A.M. - COMMISSION ROOM
Lake County is in the process of updating its Pre-Disaster Mitigation Plan. A draft of the plan is available: here. The draft will be available online to review for 45 days. If you have any comment or feedback on the draft, please reach out to Emergency Manager Kody Keefer or Commission Administrative Officer Shelli Gust.

BOARD AND COMMITTEE VACANCIES

WEED AND PEST BOARD MEMBER INTEREST APPLICATION FORM
The Weed and Pest Board consists of 7 members, one of which is a County Commissioner. Each member is appointed to serve a term of 3 years. This appointment will fill a vacancy for a term that runs through 2023. Any citizen of Lake County is eligible to be a member. Duties include: Implement and pursue effective program for control of weed and pests; hold regular meetings (2-3 a year); submit an annual report to the Department of Agriculture and county commission; make at least one annual inspection; obtain competitive bids for chemicals, equipment, and labor.

PLANNING COMMISSION MEMBER INTEREST APPLICATION FORM
The Planning Commission consists of 7 members, one of which is a County Commissioner. Each member is appointed to serve a term of 3 years. This appointment will fill a vacancy for a term that runs through 2024. Any citizen of Lake County is eligible to be a member. Duties include: Recommending land use plans and ordinances. Meet once a month to consider land use matters such as rezoning, variance, and conditional use requests.

PUBLIC SNOW REMOVAL NOTICE

NOTICE: An individual who plows snow from a driveway onto a public road, or plows snow from a driveway across a public road piling it in the ditch, may be in violation of a SD law that prohibits dumping on or within highway right-of-ways. Intentional dumping on a highway right-of-way is a Class 1 misdemeanor. This may also be a violation of a SD law that prohibits the destruction of a highway grade or ditch, which is a Class 2 misdemeanor.
